PAR wise, although not tested yet will be better as well due to 45 degree optics.  Expect double if not more I would say of the reefbrites.. but remember, 45 degree viewing area under the fixture so not as wide of coverage as reefbrite.

The reflectors seem useless on these fixtures though, due to how the led is sticking out.  On the reefbrite, I'm sure the reflectors come into play so don't just get fooled by the LEDs themselves.

Also, Reef Brites are CA/UL approved.  That fixture... well...  ;-b

Reflectors are not required with optics being used.
As for CA/UL approved.. well.. that doesn't bother me as I DIY a lot of the time.  People who have LED Fixtures as DIY as well don't have CA/UL so I am sure that doesn't bother many people.

are you going to order up a few?  if so, let us know how they work... at that price it could be a steal!

Thanks for posting. Looks interesting. I'm taking a look - see anything 10K or lower?
Cheers, Steve

JetJumper

curious as to why you would want 10k or less?  Unless you doing freshwater?

Sorry, I should have been clearer about CA/UL.  In the past 6 months I have had 2 items coming from Hong Kong refused at customs.  The seller told me the reason indicated was that it did not meet canadian electrical standards.  They also pointed out that Canada was really picky about this, but that the US didn't seem to care.

The seller refunded both the item and the shipping costs in both instances, but it might not always be the case.

I would be interested to know how they are handling heat buildup.

45 degrees seems very narrow and I suspect will create a spotlight affect.  I would prefer something closer to 80 degrees.

I am glad I was informed about the Hong Kong issue as I am in the middle of trying to get a hold of a couple 4' LED tubes from there.

Now at least I can make sure in advance they are going to meet regulations instead of being dissappointed.  Thanks for posting that JJ

Don't take this as a "Don't buy from Hong Kong" warning, as I have got many other things go through fine.  I don't know what their criterias are, or if they just happened to inspect my packages more closely.  In one of the cases, it was a box of LED bulbs (the ones you'd screw in a normal light socket).  I don't recall what the 2nd case was.  Maybe the environmental laws kick in at some point too, and some items are on the no-no list for specific chemicals used when they are manufactured?

No worries I am still going to try, I just will be a bit more careful to make sure they wont get turned back.  I really like these as I can have one for main light and one can be set up as moon lighting.  Considering I dont have plants in this tank there should be no issue other then I will get some really nice color for my tank.
