I just removed the fish from my grow out tank. How long is the cycle viable before it has to be started again.

So long as you have a constant supply of ammonia, your bacteria will be able to feed and stay alive. Some have used liquid ammonia with success but I've never tried.

Thanks but where do I find a safe ready source.

Maybe you can place the sponge from your grow out tank filter to your main tank filter?

You want 10% pure ammonia with no surfactants in it...home hardware probably carries it.
I haz reef tanks.

or you can add some fish food or a fresh shrimp from you favorite grocery store to the tank periodically & let nature do it`s thing until such time you are ready to restock.
