A friend is setting up a tank, need advice

Hey guys, a friend wants to set up a small 3 gal planted tank and I have little to no experience in that field. What would the best substrate be for a basic all in on planted tank.

Pretty much any specialised aquarium planted substrate, if it's your friend's first venture into planted tank perhaps eco complete or Flourite.

I'd recommend one of soil products. Tropica sells aquarium soil locally in as small as 1.25kg bags, and even for a low tech setup, i find the soil still the best option.

Thanks for the advice guys, i believe he went with seachem fluorite.
