I made up my own bottle with connector in cap, hooked on over 6 feet of tubing and put the end into the intake of filter.

I mixed 2 cups of boiling water 50degrees C with half cup of sugar, poured into bottle, then i mixed 1 cup of water, 1 tbsp sugar and 1 tsp of yeast and poured that into bottle, and then i mixed 2 cups of water with remainder half cup of sugar, poured into bottle and then added 1 cup of water.

How do i know it is working?
Am i suppose to see bubbles coming out?
How long do i wait for bottle to cool down before putting into intake?

Help!!!

Cheers!!!

Here you go Terry, oh I`m not sure adding yeast to boiling  water works , I think it will kill the yeast.

If you haven't seen any bubbles in a couple of hours, you probably killed the yeast

The hot water is only to help dissolve the 2 cups of sugar in the water.  You should allow it to cool before adding yeast.  I would actually add some cold water to the mix after the sugar was in to get it tepid faster.  Your hydrated yeast should only be added to lukewarm water, charlie is right, hot water will kill the yeast.

That is the most complicated DIY Co2 setup ive ever heard of.

And yes, the boiling water will kill the yeast, you want lukewarm water, and room temperature works great.

your setup is probally dead with the boiling water.  (100 Degrees C ? ) however on a proper setup it might take a couple of hours for the Co2 to work its way up the air line tubing,  6ft is ALOT of airline tubing, why did you use so much ?

maybe I will do a little photo article sometime this week for the site on DIY Co2.

Although I agree that the yeast was probably killed by the hot water, I have another question.  How did you attach the tubing to the bottle cap?  If you used silicon, it is sometimes next to impossible to get a good seal.  I had two batches I thought didn't work, but it was actually the seal that was bad.

If this might be the case, you should try nylon bulkhead fittings - see the link below.  They can be purchased at good hobby shops.

The first time I tried silicon, I ended up siliconing the cap right on to the bottle  :-\  Great seal, but when it came time to change the mix, I had to throw the bottle away  :D

Those bulkhead fittings work great, and the hose just pops right on/off of them.

Not really a requirement.. no point in re-inventing the wheel.  Garnpet just put up the link to the best DIY CO2 article on the web

more yeast is activated at 50 deg. Celcius. sometimes it says so on the packaging.
any higher though and it is killed.

I go through an airline connector through the side of the bottle, and find i can get tight
seal when dealing with the thinner more maluable plastic. then on the cap and you can leave the cap liner intact.

Toss

cut =/- 4" tubing, get another connector, attach the 4"tubing to the bottle permanently and connect to the main tubing with the other connector. That way you hardly touch the connector that glued to the bottle thus less chance to brake the seal. When you change the mix, make sure you clamp the tubing going to tha tank to keep the tubing pressurized, when the mix is ready, connect it to the main tubing and wait for +/- 20 min before you take off the clamp. Usually a little burst of CO2 will go to your intake. my two cents

In the east end, there is a hobby shop on Montreal road just West of Jeanne d'Arc.  I forget the name.. but they had the most reasonable pricing for the Foremost fittings.  Their prices on silicon tubing was pretty good too

Thanks for info! I will have a look.

Depending on where you are coming from, you can get to it from Prince of Wales, onto Colonade when you get to the lights( I think it`s Fisher sceinctifc ) turn left on to Colonade. until you see concourse on your right. If you are coming from Merivale turn right on Colonade south & follow it allllllll  ;) the way around to Concourse on your left.
