Happy New Year!

Presentation – Tetras I Have Known

We have the pleasure of hearing Zenin Skomorowski’s program on keeping and breeding Tetra species! From Kitchener, Ontario, Zenin has been in the tropical fish-keeping hobby for 55 years, since he was 12 years old. He keeps a wide variety of fish, such as cichlids from Africa and the Americas, along with rainbowfish, tetras, barbs, goodeids, livebearers, plecos, cories, Synodontis catfish, and 12 species of loaches. Zenin actively shares photos of his fish on Facebook, as well as in articles for the KWAS Fins and Tales club newsletter. He has attended the annual Ohio Cichlid Extravaganza and CAOAC conventions for more than 15 years. He has attended the Keystone Clash in Pennsylvania since 2018. Zenin attended ACA conventions in Detroit, Michigan, in 2017 and Madison, Wisconsin, in 2023.

All members are invited to showcase their aquarium related projects and discoveries at our meetings! You, or an executive member, can share your photos, videos, or other content of up to 5 minutes, at the beginning of our meetings. Please talk to the exec about submitting your content.

Members are encouraged to set up vendor tables.

General Info

OVAS memberships can be renewed for the 2025-2026 season at monthly meetings or online (PayPal). Memberships from 2024-2025 expired on September 30, 2025.

This is a FREE event sponsored by the Ottawa Valley Aquarium Society. Anyone with an interest in aquariums and related hobbies is welcome to attend. OVAS presentations are a great place to meet other aquarium hobbyists, exchange ideas and learn more about fish and aquatic plant keeping.
