Back in May 2016, Jody McManus gave us a presentation on Cichlids of the World.\u00a0 Many of you know Jody as manager of the Big Al’s east location\u00a0and cichlid enthusiast.\u00a0 The OVAS Executive invites you come out on February 27th to listen to Part II of his presentation, Other Cichlids of the World.\u00a0 Maybe if we are good, he will\u00a0talk about his Fish Room.<\/p>\n

Jody’s Bio:<\/p>\n

I got into the hobby in about 1987, with a 29 gallon community tank.
\nMy brother and I quickly got another, then another tank. He soon discovered girls, and that was the end of his aquarium hobby. I on the other hand, kept at it, and was keeping a bunch of different type of fish, but already my leaning was towards the cichlid family.
\nI was a member of the Saskatoon aquarium society for a couple of years, then moved to Ottawa, where I didn\u2019t have any tanks for about 5 years. Then one tank, led to another, then another. Again, with many different types of cichlid.
\nAround this time, mid 90\u2019s I joined OVAS, and soon after was in charge of the bowl show. Eventually, I would become Vice President, and then President of the club for a couple of years.
\nIn 1999, I started working at Big Al\u2019s and except for a 4 month excursion to where I was working in Malawi, I have been there ever since.<\/p>\n

The meeting will take place on Monday,\u00a0February 27th at Tom Brown Arena<\/a> at 7:00 PM.\u00a0 Tom Brown Arena has plenty of free parking and is close to the OC Transpo<\/a> transit routes.<\/p>\n

The meeting is open to club and non-club members so all is welcome.<\/p>\n

We will start off with regular OVAS Club business and then follow up with Jody’s Other Cichlids of the World presentation.<\/p>\n

In addition, anyone who has any aquarium related items to sell or give away are encouraged to bring them to the meeting.<\/p>\n

Munchies and refreshments will be available as well.<\/p>\n
