March Meeting Cancelled<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

We regret to inform you that due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, OVAS will be cancelling its meeting on March 23rd 2020.<\/p>\n

Giant Auction in April???<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

The city of Ottawa has announced that they will close all their facilities starting on Monday, March 16th to Sunday, April 5th.\u00a0 As many of you are aware, our annual Giant Auction was going to take place on Sunday, April 5th.\u00a0 The OVAS Executive is currently in discussion and will decide if the event will be rescheduled or cancelled.\u00a0 Please check the forum<\/a> for the latest updates. \u00a0<\/p>\n

OVAS Bowl Show and Photo Contest for March<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Even though the meeting for March is cancelled, OVAS will still continue to host its mini fish show called a “Bowl Show From Home”.\u00a0 This months category is Oddball Fish.\u00a0\u00a0We encourage all members to participate!<\/span> \u00a0<\/p>\n

Oddball fish are normally striking because they are unusual, weird or strange in appearance.\u00a0 These types of fish are not always easy to categorize as they often belong to a unique genus or species and have specialized care requirements as a result.\u00a0 The participant has free reign on interpretation so please post your pictures of your oddball fish in a bowl and forum members will vote.\u00a0 Some ideas are taking pictures of your bowls in front of another aquarium or computer screen, in front of a nice black or blue back drop, play with the lighting or window blinds.\u00a0 Fish will be judged based on size, colour and overall appearance.<\/p>\n

However, please do not go out and buy a fish for the show.\u00a0 The intention is to display your successful aquatic husbandry for a chance at some prizes from our sponsors.<\/p>\n
