OVAS Executive Board elections are determined with in-person voting at this meeting! Stay tuned for our Summer Picnic Event!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Presentation &#8211; <\/strong><em><strong>Corydoras <\/strong><\/em><strong>Breeding [Chris Pullen]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Chris Pullen MSc. is an active OVAS member, and auctioneer!\u00a0 He will be presenting on breeding and raising <em>Corydoras <\/em>catfish in the aquarium.\u00a0 Chris has been an active fish-keeper for over 25 years, focusing on planted aquaria, breeding, marine systems, and aquaponics.\u00a0 Currently, he\u2019s focused on raising and breeding dwarf rainbows, killifish, <em>Apistogramma\u00a0<\/em>spp., plecos, <em>Corydoras <\/em>and a few oddballs.\u00a0 Chris completed an undergraduate degree in ecology and his graduate work focused on fish ecology and conservation physiology, specifically stress ecology of fish.\u00a0 Following an early career in outdoor adventure tourism, Chris worked as a fish habitat ecologist before moving on to the financial sector in environmental and social risk management.\u00a0 An avid angler, Chris has pursued fish with rod and reel across Canada and the tropics and is equally at home observing fish with a mask and fins or wading in a stream with a dip net. If it involves fish, he\u2019s in!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Members\u2019 Corner <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All members are invited to showcase their aquarium related projects and discoveries at our meetings! You, or an executive member, can share your photos, videos, or other content of up to 5 minutes, at the beginning of our meetings. Please talk to the exec about submitting your content.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Member Aquascaping Competition<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The<strong> OVAS 2025\u00a0Small Aquascape Competition<\/strong>, includes\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tropica.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tropica <\/a>&amp;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.seachem.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Seachem<\/a>\u00a0prizes ! ! !<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>5 gallons maximum. Any shape is allowed.<\/li>\n<li>May or may not include living organisms. Make sure to safely transport anything alive.<\/li>\n<li>Real *aquatic* plants only underwater, you may have emerged plants above water.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Bring electrical extension cords, water, water conditioner, towels, nets, etc. for preparing your aquarium entry.<br \/>\nYou are responsible for setup, disassembly, and removal of your aquarium entry.<br \/>\nVisit the forum thread to ask questions or learn more:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ovas.ca\/forum\/index.php?PHPSESSID=716bd7bd262a8bd9e39583ebc7543fc3&amp;topic=63656.0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nature Aquarium \/ Aquascaping Contest<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t hesitate to put something together this evening or next, with a light, and then bring it to meeting on Monday!
