I bought soe fish at super pets and in the bag there was alot of those floating plants they have in there tanks, Is that good are bad? now almost 80% of my tank is coverde with them, should I remove it all are just like 70% ???

BigDaddy

The floating plant you are referring to is likely duckweed.

Its not bad per say.. and it is a nitrate sponge which is a good thing.  It can lower the light levels in the tank if it covers the top though, and has a tendancy to clog up filters.

ToX

ok thank you very much, I will remove half of it so my plants have more light

Duckweed is evil >:(  Like guppies, you start out with one and end up with hundreds ;D
Like most folks, I got a little bit in a bag at the LFS, and now every day or so, I have to clear it off the top of the tank.  Put your arm in the tank, and it comes out looking like a chia pet.  :D I know goldfish people love it, and rainbowfish are supposed to like it as well, but I loathe and detest it.  Good luck with it.

It is such a weed,   >:( but when you scoop the excees you know some of your nitrates are out of the tank.   :)

It's not impossible to get duckweed out of a tank... but it is a formidable task!  My original 75 gallon planted went a full year "sans duckweed" (after an initial unwanted introduction) until I reintroduced it with some new fish a few months back.
