the review for that digitial timer says that the 3rd prong is capped.  unsure. if thats true.

Not true, i run 4 of them

I have one of those they are good timers. Only thing they use up a lot of space in an outlet or power bar.

I use two of them.  I might pick up a couple more.

They take up two plugs if you put them at the end of the powerbar.  However, I set Mondays so that the lights do not come on at all.  I do this to save some electricity and limit algal growth.  The tanks get some sunlight so it's not dark.

I have two of them and they are ok. But I like the other two "woods" brand from Rona better as they seem to be more acurate keeping the actual time after a couple of weeks/months. Also the woods give you two outlets for the same price as the CT model for about the same price (if not on sale). Just sharing my thoughts :)
