Heating your RO/DI water, easy DIY project

My RO/DI unit wastes water like crazy and supplies water very slowly.
I have been told the water coming in needs to be warm, something like 75-80 degrees F.
I have a fairly large system with lots of MH lighting and excess heat.
I decided to use this excess heat to warm my supply water.
All I did was buy 60 feet of 3/8" nylon tubing, tie it into my supply tubing and submerge it in my sump.
This elevated my supply water temp from 64 deg F to 78 deg F.
This in turn helps to cool my tanks and make about 30% more water with a little less waste.
Since the water flow is so slow I achieved 100% heat exchange.
Seldom, do you find a win win situation.
I thought this worth sharing.

I'm curious to know how much the psi drops over 60' of hose.

JD

I just checked the psi before and after and it's the same. I have 3/8" feed tubing on a 50 gpd where some have 1/4".
The overall flow is so small compared to it's capacity I see no reason for a pressure drop.
