AC70 on a 75gal tank

I want to use my AC70 as extra filtration on a 75gal but it doesn't fit on the plastic trim.  Its the lip used to hold glass tops that is getting in the way.  Can I cut the plastic a bit just where I need to or does anyone have a better ideal (except upgrading to an AC110  :P)?

can you bend the lip a bit by using a micro torch?

As long as it doesn't affect you using the glass top, I'd cut it a bit.

If you are really worried why not mod the filter instead of the tank trim.
