good question for you. I have sand as a substrate, how do you keep the plants in place? right now I have only 2 I have pushed sand around them, and placed a small rock at the base.
Also I noticed lots of you have "wood" in your tank which I love how to do you get the plants to grow on them?

Using rocks is a good idea. Generally, sand isn't the best substrate for plants to root. It is dense, nutrient poor and easy stirred up just to name a few.

Anubias, java fern and most moss can attach to wood and rocks. The are quite hardy too and don't require any fancy setups.

I like using thin black cotton thread. You tie it on and it just eventually degrades away, long after the plant is firmly attached.

Super glue is much easier than tying these plants on if you can manage it.  Just a drop of glue on the rhizome, press it against what you want to attach it to, and drop it into the tank.  It's perfectly safe for the tank.

Lead weights, the type that are sold with plants to help anchor them down.
