Please excuse the Frankenstein posting, I've been meaning to take some pics of my dry start
for HC but.........been too busy.

Thanks charlie for posting this, enjoyed it immensely.
I picked up a small handful of HC at the last giant auction and decided to give this
dry start method a whirl seeings how I have much better luck with my houseplants
than I do with the aquarium plants.
I'm liking the HC grown out of water and seeings how I really don't have a tank I
could put it in at the moment it may stay grown like this .

Sorry for the blurry pics but they'll give you a rough idea of what HC looks like
out of the water.

Excellent read, thanks for posting, Errol. The DSM method always seemed messy and headache-y for me, but the article shows just the opposite. I might very well give it a try!

Will HC grown on land work if started dry then put into a tank?  This would be a great way to get a head start for my planted tank?

Sorry didnt mean to highjack the thread, just peeked my curiousity.
