OVAS Executive elections are coming up in May! This is one of the best ways to give something back to the club.  If you want to know more about a position, feel free to pm the person currently in that position to get more info.

The elections will be held during the May General Meeting on May 28, 2012.  All OVAS Members are eligible to run for a position and vote during the election.  Voting is at the meeting only.

If you want to run for a position add your your name in the real world, the position for which you have decided to run, and if you so choose, a brief blurb as to why you would be a good candidate for that particular position.

Please reserve this thread for self-nominations for the election.

Names on this thread received by May 27th at 10:00 p.m. will be entered on the elections ballot, anyone declaring to run for a position after the deadline will be added manually to the ballot at the time of the election.  Nominations will be accepted at the meeting.

I'll start :)

I'm currently the Programs Chair.  It's fun networking with all sorts of fishy people but my schedule next year is going to be packed so I can't dedicate the time to it.  Whoever wants this position will inherit my binder of notes and ideas so you don't have to start from scratch.

I'll be running for Treasurer instead.

freshfishies

I will be running for BAP Chair again.  :)

After much consideration & consulting with some dedicated members of OVAS and having served the club in the following capacities- membership chair, Programs chair  and Vice President also elected President but could not fulfill that position due to personal issues I will now throw my hat in for the position of President.
My penchant & track record of getting things done coupled with my past experiences within the OVAS Club will serve me well in continuing to help the club progress as one of the best clubs within our parent body CAOAC.

Please note that this thread is ONLY for people who are declaring their intention to run for OVAS elections.

After recently solidifying a job in Ottawa post-university, I guess I'll hang around for a while.

Since Errol stole my position, I throw my name in to be his wing man  8)

I would like to continue as Newsletter Chair for the 2012-13 season.

However, should there be no volunteers for other key positions in the club, such as Auction Chair, Program Chair, and Membership Chair, I may reconsider the position for which I will run.

In the meantime, I certainly encourage everyone to seriously consider volunteering some of your time to the club by taking up a position for next year. The club needs your help.
Thanks for reading.

Sadly, life has taken a different turn for me. While I still intend to be an active member of OVAS, I can no longer continue to dedicate any time to the programs. So the position of BAP/AHAP Chair will be open to anyone interested.
I will be more than happy to share all of my records, leads, plans and information gathered, with whomever takes on this role.

There are several  openings in next year's executive committee!

Please don't be shy!  OVAS membership for the year is free when you volunteer for a position and the execs who are coming back are a grat group of people.

Given that no one has nominated themselves (yet) for the Secretary position, my common-law wife, Sylvie Bourgon, alias SlyAngel (awaiting forum approval), would like to help the club in this capacity.
Sylvie has endured my hobby now for close to 10 years. She has picked out several fish for me to keep, including a small colony of freshwater Angel fish.
She has excellent typing abilities and has experience in writing meeting minutes.
Sylvie has also helped me by posing for pictures for past issues of the newsletter (for example, she is the one holding the membership card in one of the ads  ;D)

I share two angel fish tanks - both of which my hubby takes care of! What's not to like?

Hi, I know this is after the fact, but with Errol's help, I would like to volunteer for the Program chair/director's position.

Of course, this is if no one else has claimed the spot. If it's still free, please let me know if I need to do anything during the summer, I can pick up the binder pretty much anytime.

Thanks,
Sylvie

Sylvie,
I think you will do a great job in this post.  Thanks to you and to all the others who are contributing their time and efforts to the club!
