Hello everyone as we all know that a lot of fish medications are no longer sold in Canada because of new laws.

So my question is what is everyone using to replace seachem paraguard ? I was using this in my quarantine tanks and i have about 500 ml left and i'm looking for some kind of replacement that we can buy in Canada without running to a vet for a prescription.

Any suggestion are welcomed.

Thanks everyone.

Hi nemo14 :  I too use Paraguard  and do not have a large supply left .  When it runs out I have researched and will most
likely use a combination of two of Microbe-Lift products . I use other products of theirs already.

I have mostly Angelfish and because of that regularly check out AngelFins  in Ontario . In their medication section they state that they expect to have ParaGuard available shortly  again . Do they have valid  information ?  I hope so .

Hello calico3

That's where i was buying my seachem paraguard too located in Mississauga Ontario let hope they can get it back in stock i bought a 4L bottle last year and i'm down to maybe 500 ml left. cant get API general cure ether as well as Kusuri Wormer Plus. The way the Canadian government keeps passing dam law we will need to go to the vet with my discus and angelfish. I still have a new bottle of prazipro and a few other medications but i loved the seachem paraguard it was a softer med to use in a quarantine tank and it wouldn't harm the biological filtration. As long as they don't get rid of the metroplex and kanaplex ether.

I've always used Ruby Reef Kick-Ich and I have recently purchased Ruby Reef Rally just in case my fish get other diseases. Rally treats external parasites especially dinoflagellates, flukes, and pathogenic bacteria (e.g. marine velvet, clownfish disease, bacterial fin and tail rot and fresh water gill flukes) in both marine and freshwater tanks.  Both products are copper free and are safe for reef, marine, freshwater and planted tanks and safe for fish, corals, invertebrates and plants. Both products have no impact on biological filtration and have a long shelf life at room temperature and are supplied in regular and easy to use, self-dosing bottles. Call me lazy but I personally opted to buy these products instead of using and maintaining a quarantine tank.  I treated my 80-gallon tank which had snails, freshwater clams, freshwater crayfish and shrimp and tons of plants... all were fine with Ruby Reef Kick-ich.  I haven't had to use Rally yet... fingers crossed and knock on wood.  Ruby Reef Kick-Ich rocks!  I can only assume that Ruby Reef Rally will be as effective and safe.  Hope this is helpful.

Almond leaf and ground garlic with dechlorinate water added to fish food -- best thoughts I have right now.
