OK it's done.....sold the livestock, the plants, prepared another tank for my 10 discus, removed 150lbs of substrate, cleaned the tank, refilled with SW and cruhed coral/sand substrate, added 100 lbs of live rock, added four powerheads, heater, connected and balanced the overflow, skimmer, and sump.

14 hour day but I finally have my 120 gal reef up and running.  Thanks to Ray who, among other essential equipment, sold me the excellent live rock - there's polyps etc popping out all over the place.

Careful selection of a few fish will be next.

My biggest disappointment was having to sell my 7 Clown Loaches - beautiful fish that were with me since I began.  Have a good home so that's some consolation.

Will post pics soon.

wow 14 hours cant wait for the pics!

Congrats, now how is your patience level??? You will want all kinds of livestock.
I am positive you will have one awesome tank in the future if your like me you will spend so much more time with the sw tank than fresh. Send your wife a note from time to time so she will know where you are...

Patience is a virtue - applies to both the sw tanks and spouses.

Now now boys and girls....I can show patience when I absolutely have to.  In fact I'm not going to add anything to the tank until next weekend. (I'm away on a business trip  )

I'm having a little difficulty balancing the overflow/sump and skimmer but I'll keep tinkering.
