Thanks for the advice az!

pitabread - nice tank, make sure to keep us posted on it's development.  Unfortunately, 24" is a little deep for me, but I do like the 30" x 18" footprint...

Thanks,
Andrew

murgus, if you haven't decided on your tank size yet, Perfecto makes a 56 gallon that is 30x18x24".  It's the tank I chose (I too, was limited to 30" width) and I found it's been a good size.  The extra 6" of depth you get versus a 29 gallon is very useful for aquascaping a reef.  The extra water volume doesn't hurt, either.

pitabread - where did you get your live rock?

Thanks,
Andrew

I got mine at Big Al's in Kanata.  I think I paid about $7 or $8 per pound at the time.

Hi murgus............this is an example of what can go wrong with a
marine set up.......
before and after pictures.......
One wrong move like change of salt or too much cooper...
then its all over..........
Presently cycling a new set up...........bare bones yet......
word of advice .................take your time.  :-\ :-\

YT- what happened???
Can you elaborate a bit more?  Did you change salt as mentionned above...I'd like to hear the details so we can learn from them.
Sorry.

The before set up was in a 33g tank I had.........
then decided to go bigger with a 65g..........after switching
from 33g to 65g..........I did not like the height of the tank,
so went back to the 33g..............along the process I switched
salts............from Instant ocean to Red Sea Salt........(big mistake)
and the set up just went downhill there after  ..... had a well stablish 9 months old
set up.........Corals all died .......but all fish survived......
So I'am starting again with a perfect size tank a 50g .........
So the set up is only 3 days old..............looking ok so far..........
believe or not I got feathers dusters already on rock I cured Myself. ;)
cheers.....

I have a reef tank similar in size to Pita's. I'm very happy with the deeper tank and totaly agree with what Murgus is saying.  I am making out fine with some sps,lps and softes under 100 w of pc 50/50 and a lowtec setup.

Perfecto 37g 20"x18" x 24"
