With the new LED technology I'm sure you could possibly rig something up very cheap over a 5 gallon.

The Mini Aqualight is a bit small to use on a 5 gallon.  I have the f/w version over a 5.5 gallon planted and opted to add an additional light for more even coverage.  The 2x18w is probably the better choice.  Unfortunately, there really aren't that many lighting options for smaller tanks.

Seanc

yeah that is the one i meant, the 2x18. thats quite a bit of light over a 5.5 .

What does aquarium girl have set up over her 10gallon nano?
She's got some nice corals in there.

Her tank is on nano-reef.com with some specs.  She's got a 10w power compact set up in a desk lamp.

Keep us posted(maybe some pics too :))

did you go to BA's innis? You are also making a sump for this thank right?
definetly take some photo's and poast them here. it will be an interesting project.

ryancarman.com

yes that was me!!

but the whole sump project is irritating me need to redesign i think

BigDaddy

A sump for a 5 gallon?  More work for minimal gain I would think...

Seanc

also if you do, do it, i would put the sump underneath. It will make it easyer to get water into it. or just don't do it at all. because there isn'tmuch gain as BD said.

its more to add volume and get the the heater out of the tank

having said that i found a mint used 150 gal that i'm picking up and thus thing are going to get even more fichy at my place :P
