Would t5's be adequate for a 28" deep tank?

Now sadly, there are two schools of thought here, the first being that 24" is the absolute limit for t-5's, and MH beyond, the second being that it isn't so much the light bulb as the reflector that gets the light down where you require it, and this school say that depth is irrelevant.

I imagine you are inquiring as to the effects for a reef, and I have no experience with t-5's and reefs, but with the t-5HO, you can get pretty far, so, as it is cheaper, cooler, and longer lived(some saltwater gurus suggest that the lumens degrade very little even up to three years), I personally would give them the old college try, and if it doesn't work, you'll know soon enough, and have some wonderful lights for your planted tanks, or to sell to us enthusiasts here on the site.

Thanks, I was expecting a negative response.  Actually it would work out quite well because my bow front and 55 are the same length so interchangable lighting is the cats meow.
Speaking of the cat's meow, my cat used to jump on the tank and drink from it much to the Oscars dismay.
(they were just disappointed it wasn't something they could actually eat  ;D)
