I picked up some Xenia polyps at the auction on Monday and after letting them float in the bag overnight I used some plastic mesh to to "bag" them onto small pieces of LR. I noticed that one is mostly standing up through the mesh now and pulsing happily away. My question is how long do you think I should leave the netting on? How do you determine enough time has passed form them to properly attach?

So it was you who got my xenia! Glad to hear it survived - I was actually worried, as temp was lowering very fast...

Try to raise the mesh, and if xenia does not go with it and stay on the rock - than you don't need it anymore. Usually you just need a few hours or so.

ok thanks man  ;D

I was supprised to see them there. I had not noticed them on the tables and am very happy to have some pink ones. The one I have is tan. Hopefully I can find some more types to go with them next time.

Healthy xenia are very sticky and like GVV stated in hours, also I used a pin to stick in the stem  and in the live rock to hold it there and remove in a few hours!

One of the cuttings is fine. But the other one separated into smaller polyps and attached to the net  :-\ . Its all still quite alive but I'm not sure it will untangle itself. I guess I left the net on there way to long. I have the piece of net weighed down on a chunk of rock hopping they will come loose on their own. If not . . $5 for one Xenia frag is still a GREAT deal in my book  8)

I wish I had luck with Xenia........... >:(
for some apparent reason my system won't support them.

I wonder.
