Clowns

Im picking up some clowns from a guy and he says they are false clowns.What the diff.?

there are false clowns (Amphiprion ocellaris) as seen here, http://www.divegallery.com/ClownFalse.htm

and there are true clownfish(Amphiprion percula) as seen here. http://www.divetrip.com/phot0604c.htm, just diferent species.

and thats about all i know about the diference, i think one is more orange, and has more black boardering the orange and white, but i think it vary alot depending on the fish its self.

False percs have thinner black lines and get a bit larger than true percs.

I think the ocellaris is a little hardier than the true perc.

I have true clowns.........(perculas)
And what I have noticed besides their darker thicker  lines is
also thier bellies,they tend to be darker than the rest of their bodies.
I had false clowns and their bodies seem to be one light color only.

i have 1 false perc with darker belly, 2 other false perculas in a different tank gone darker(whole body) over the years.......maybe they just change clr depending on the sorroundings! i am not sure!
