Hi Guys, I have (yet) another SW question ::)

When it comes to adding fish to the SW tank, it there anything different that should be done versus FW?  Drip method for an hour or so?

And, if I am planning on having a pair of percs, should they be added singularly or at the same time?

Thanks,
Andrew

Hi Andrew
When dripping saltwater fish for aclimatizing, first check the salinity of the water in the bag the fish came in and check the salinity of your tank. Drip the fish in a pail until the pail water matches your tank salinity. It can take an hour or more to match the salinity of your tank. I have drip for 4 hours until the salinity match my tank salinity before putting the fish in the tank. If salinity is drastically off it can damage or kill the fish!

If you are getting two percs drip them at the same time and put them in the tank at the same time. Hope this Helps!

Check the specific gravity the fish are currently swimming in; especially percs which are more sensitive than ocellaris.

Just for the info - I'm using ususal air tubes with valve to regulate the dripping. When the bucket if nearly full, I removing the portion of water and continue with dripping. Depending on fish/coral it can take from 1 to several hours.

Good idea with the air tube and valve, I think I have some kicking around in the basement!

when I run my drip for a couple of hours I need to drop a spare heater in the bucket sometimes. And I put a cloth over the top to darken it so the fish stay mellow  :)

A little off topic, but have you checked with marinescape?
