Q: Acclimating corals

Hi all,

I have picked up some zoos and a brain coral and was wondering what the standard protocol for acclimating them is?  I use the drip method for the fish, should I do that with the corals as well?  Or is just temperature matching sufficient?

I must admit, when I put the GSP and xenia in, all I did was plunk them in - seems to have not harmed them but I figured, why take chances and ask the question stupid!

Same method as fish.

What I usually do is put them in the tank so that the temp is the same.Then i check the salinity on both water.I then slowly put in some water from the tank.About half of what is in the bag.Let it sit for another 10 min. and away we go.Never lost anythng yet.

I assume you are not using QT...
Dripping method is good for water chem acclimating, but in this case you may get different temp in the bucket with your corals and your tank... Depending on species you may find in i-net the proposed method. Some need long term, others will be good when you just put them in.

Thanks for all the suggestions.  Due to a minor emergency at work (I work support and am currently on call) they all got the temperature adjustment for an hour and in they went

My wife tells me they look okay...
