would like to add some small plants to my cichlid tank?

hey guys I was wondering what type of plant I can grow in my new 160, and what I would need to do this I have a decent lights for them about 130w right now they are 50/50 should I use just 10k bulbs they are pc's, woul like to get some Java moss or something like that... I don't know any suggestions

I went with Vallisneria in my cichild tank due to it being recommended on several cichlid related sites. It is adapted to hardwater, something to do with carbon uptake, and adds a nice vertical element to the aquascape. It was also mentioned as one of the few plants available that might actually be found in the marshy verges of the lakes.

I would not go with the thick jungle val though. I like the shorter corkscrew type better myself  :)

I suggest java ferns they attach to rocks easily and they dont require much light.And the cichlids cant eat them.

thx I picked up some Val's and some Java ferns today looks great....I would post but for some reason it won't let me :'(

I totally agree. Mine even flowers in my 195 /w 56Watts of t5 light. I also have java fern and it is doing ok.
