Java Moss Question

Do plecos or MTS eat Java Moss?

I keep putting some in my tank and a couple of weeks later it is down to nothing....strange....

Any insight?

Never had MTS or pleco's eat any moss. The only thing that ever ate java moss on me was apple snails.

I've never had my plecos or mts eat java moss...
but ya never know plants are tasty

MTS won't eat your java moss, and I don't know what kind of plecos you have, but if they are hungry enough, they might eat it.  Do you have enough for them to eat in your tank?  You might want to supplement their diet, and then see if your java moss is still around.

Might I suggest too little current? I know java moss sometiems rots away in stagnant water

I was just talking this over with someone.  My java moss does the same thing.  Its in the 90gallon with normal current - two ac110s.  The goldfish don't eat at it but do stir it up every so often.  It seems like there is pieces constantly coming off of it and getting stuck on the filter intake sponge. I put the sponge there to prevent the java moss from clogging the filter.  This tank has a ph of 8.3.

It is growing amazing in my 10 gallon rainbow tank with 2.0 wpg but unfortunately so is the branch/hair algae and it's starting to hit the javamoss.  This tank is at 7.0 PH (carting city water).

I was wondering if java moss just didn't thrive in high ph?

my ph in my african tank is about 8.0 and my java moss has over run the tank to the point I started taking it out and it's now in all my fish bowls, mini tanks and in buckets on the ground hahaha it's also in my tank with low ph and is now over taking that tank as well!
I dont know what I'm doing right but it loves my water!

I keep a large clump of java moss in one of my stand alone fish bowls. It's been there for a year or so and has never shown any signs of rotting away. And there is zero current in there because there's no filtration. (The java moss is the filtration.  )

I have MTS in both tanks so I assume they are not the problem........how about SAE, Platties, Swordtails, Silvertips, Cardinals, Neons, Kribensis, Angels, Discus, Cories? That about rounds out what I am keeping in there are the moment.......

Never saw anyone from this list interested in java moss.
One thing I should say that even java moss is stated as low light plant, it grows really nice only under good lights, with ferts and CO2. In my 75G tank it also does not grow a lot as it is in the shade of other plants, but it is not rottening. In my 20G and 10G it is growing like crazy, but they both have natural sun during the day.
