What to put in there...Brackish?

I'm trying todecide what to put in my 55 gallon...I had a lake Malawi tank for a while but I want something I can have plants with...I have a discus and community tank already...

I've been thinking about brackish water but know NOTHING about it.

While a brackish tank will certainly let you keep some very interesting fish, it can be tough to do one with much in the way of plants. Few plants will prosper with the high levels of sodium, and some of the "staples" of brackish tanks, like scats and monos, are notorious herbivores.
    That having been said, you can do a very nice landscaping job without a lot of plants (just don't let anyone know that I said so<G>.
    If you decide to go the brackish route, let me know and I'll try and steer you towards some plants that will work.
