I am looking for information on my Endler's.  I bought them at Pet Circus and I have seen a post in the classifieds on this site which is from the origional purchaser  (I think).

I absolutely love these fish and would like to know about these particular specimens and about the fish in general.  I have all but exhausted the info available on the internet on these fish and have not seen reference to them in any books.

Any info would be apreciated.  Where can I buy more of these beauties?  Does anyone else keep them?

I am particularly interested in finding out the origin of my particular fish.  I am hoping to find out where these fish were ordered from and what their lineage is (ie. live caught or captive bread, etc.), so I would love to hear back from the indevidual who sold them through Pet Circus.

I was just considering adding Holbrook's Mosquitofish 'Gambusia holbrooki' (Baensch) to my Endler's tank.  Does anyone know if these fish are likely to interbread?  Just curious.  Right size but a very similar species,  don't wan't to dirty my gene pool.

Thanks.

Hey there,
You can buy more Endlers at Aquarium Services-  they're about 4$ a shot =)

Really?  Do you know if they have females as well? Which location?

I haven't seen Endler's at Aquarium Services and I am always looking.  They have told me that they occassionaly get them but they always seem to have a hard time getting them in.

Thanks for the response and the info.

I have seen them there before. Why not place a special order? I've made special orders through Super Pet in Kanata and they've been great about it.

( what I am going to do right now is called 'name-dropping' )

Dr. Endler who discovered these fish while doing a survey of guppies in South America is a client of mine (for my software). Nice fellow, he is a professor of Marine Biology in California. He is also one of the top specialists in rainbowfish populations, especially in Australian species.

Common guppies are very closely related to Endler's. What works for one would probably work well for the other.

I would avoid mixing them with other Poecilas or other small livebearers, espcially guppies or gambusia since the females and fry are almost identical looking, and x-breeing might occur.
