I am wondering if i put convics in my tank with plants if they will end-up eating the plants?  I dono wat kind of plants they all are just that some of them have smaller leaves and when there were small gold fish in there they tried 2 eat them, out with the gold fish was the result.

thanks  Jordan

Well after not receiving any reply's  :P :P :P  I decided to try them with the plants any ways.  No Problems with them eating them,  every so often tho I find a plant or 2up-rooted and floating around the tank  :(  Stick my arm in they hide i replant it and all is good.

I have two live plants in my tank with  a combination of Carnivores, Herbivores and omnivores and although they do nibble on them every so often, they have yet to take a real bite and my two plants are doing very well and have not even been uprooted either.  Maybe they don't like my plants or something lol

kool thnks ham, mine don't seem 2 be eating the plants just every so often i keep finding them floating around the tank.  But that does not bother me.  I just want the little buggers 2 start havin babies.

The rodent tossers observations are fairly common to this species of fish, they will rearrange the tank, but I never had mine eat actual plants either, they just didn't want that plant in the substrate as they wanted that particular spot for something else. Who knows what goes on in the mind of an interior decorating convict cichlid. :)

lol that is so true. but i guess it keeps me on my toes with them. Not that i don't check on them 20 times a day for fresh fry, i want babies.
