I was wondering what the difference was if the bioballs are only being dripped on, like I mostly read about, if they are partially submergered or if they are fully submerged.  Obviously they would have less contact to oxygen being under water (by about 20%), but what if there was an air stone underneath them?  just trying to brainstorm some ideas and any help, experience of advice would greatly be appreciated.  Thanks.

Bioballs that are tricked on are part of what is referred to as a "wet/dry" filter.  Wet/dry filters are comparitively more effecient at biological filtration than filters that submerge the biomedia.

Unless you are very concerned that your filter isn't providing enough biofiltration, I wouldn't really spend much time worrying about it.
