How long until new plants need to be planted?

I was just wondering, generally, how long is it safe to keep plants that I purchase at the store before planting them in the tank? The scenario I'm looking at potentially would be picking up the plants at the store in the morning and not being able to plant them until the evening. Would this be ok?

Thanks,

Jeff

Jeff... I have gone a couple of days before planting.

As long as the bag is sealed and it isn't in the light or the heat, you'll be fine.

Ok so if I'm not going to be planting them it's better that they're kept in the dark and sealed in the bag? Great thanks.

Exactly copper, never tell them where you are taking them, put a bag over their bag so that they can't see. ;)

Sometimes, I find at least, that I won't plant a plant immediately if it looks a little rough, depending on the species of course, this way, when they float, you can see the roots come to life more quickly to plant with more assurance. Usually just float the worst ones for a day or two, this way they get more light and easier access to the gas exchange at the surface.
