DIYers - know about Cohen & Cohen?

If you're handy wiring things or even if you're not they have lots of industrial/office fluorescent fixtures in a number of sizes. Some need to be hard wired others not. I picked up a 2' one with bulb and 3 levels of intensity, ready to plug in for $10. They also have large sheets of glass and/or plexiglassin various thicknesses as well as "Perry Sound moss rocks" - lots of holes and ridges for $0.15 a lb I think. Plus of course tons of other stuff. Bargain, you can often get great deals. So if you like to scrounge this is the place.

It's located on Merival across from Cleoaptra.

I believe Cohen & cohen are a demolition company.
I didn't know they sold some of their junk.
but if there are items which one can use such as lights and rocks
that is a good thing to know.

I have purchased balasts from them before for $10 but i wont do it again as it is hit and miss. the balasts and often quite used so sometimes they work great other times them hum loudly and sometimes they dont work at all. in the end, in my books i would prefer to spend the extra 20 for them to be quiet and so i know i wont be replacing it soon again anyway.

They do have great rock though! and they usually have lots of slate.

most of their glass is tempered though so if you buy it, it better be the right size.

I bought one that had a plug so I tried it out before I bought it. It doesn't make a sound. It's true, though, you don't really know what you are buying but so far so good.

Whats the best way to clean the Parry Sound rock?
Should I use bleach or salt or something?

What I'm doing right now is soaking the rocks in hot water with a strong solution of potassium permanganate. Figured I could kill a lot of nasty little beasties  that way but I'm a newbie so maybe someone else with more experience will answer.
