I want to get some yellow labs and electric blue. Where is the best place? I would like to have males and females. Looking for say 2 males and 3 females of each. Also are these an expensive fish?

I'd say right here at this forum is a great place to get the fish you're looking for!

I was always impressed with Aquarium Services before it moved to Innes. Haven't been there in a while though, so things may have changed.

Honestly.  I think the best place to get yellow blue and electric blues is wal-mart.  I have had amazing luck with those that i have bought.

A lot of people talk smack about fishes at wal-mart but one only have to compares my the difference between the yellow labs that i bought at wal-mart with those that i have bought at the auction.

The problem however with electric blues is that they take a long time to develop their full colors.  However they are well worth the wait.

Before you head to walmart, post a msg in the classifides or contact pegasys !!

Pegasus does breed very healthy specimens of fishes.  However
to the best of my knowledge, I do not think that pegasus breeds yellow labs.

I sold my pair of electric blue and most yellow labs juveniles. A search in this forum will give you at least the name of one breeder of Electric blue and of 3 yellow lab breeders.

It's a breeding frenzy up here. Last weekend was the Red Empress & Rusty, this weekend will be another Rusty and C44, next will be 2 females Stuartgranti & one Eureka & in two weeks, the yellow lab, Aulonocara eureka sunshine and possibly eggs from the brichardi & Variabilichromis moori.

Growing up are leleupi, tretocephalus, brichardi, 3 kinds of Aulonocara, rusty, yellow labs and lithobathes.

Preparing for breeding are 4 species of Tropheus, Variabilichromis moori, white & gold Altolamprologus compressiceps, Cyphotilapia frontosa Mpimbwe, Aulonocara hueseri, Placidochromis electra superior, brichardi albino, Telmatachromis Vittatus, Socolofi & Saulosi. Oh... and of course the Blue JD. :D

The reason that i state that pegasus breeds healthy specimen is that from what i gather from last year's home show, his fishes derives from natural selection.

His fishes do not come from one male and a harem of female.  He gets his juneviles from a tankfull of the same specimen so you won't have the genetic bottleneck that you will find with other breeders who breeding practice is to isolated one male with a harem of female.

That is my theory on why all of his fishes has survive in my aquarium when i do not come close to the same ratio with fishes bought from other breeders.

When they breed I really really want one of these. How long do you think it will be til you have fry?

pegasus

The JD are tiny tiny tiny....     3/4" so 12-16 months, maybe sooner if they go for beefheart. So don't wait for mine. I need at least 2 more and hopefully from another gene pool. I plan a visit to the breeder, early July with possibly Marx & Steve. I could take orders at our June meeting & I'll let the forum know.  They were $15 @

I've been looking for a blue JD for a while now. Pretty much my favourite fish. I would absolutely LOVE to get one. Any time you go, make sure you post, because I would definitely love to get one or more of these fish.
