Official Day 1 of the 55g setup.

Planted the new ones, thinned & re-arranged the others. Water change & new solution in drop checker (if it doesn't improve I'll need to go pressurized sooner rather than later) Fish this weekend? We'll see..

FW Nano's 5g & 15g
Inverts & Micro fish

Hey all.

My plants are doing well, however, none of my plants seem to be pearling.  I am using pressurized CO2.  The 4dkh solution is lime green-to yellowish in colour.  The bubble rate is ~1.5 to 2 large bubbles per second.  I really don't think that CO2 is the limiting factor.

I have 2 kyrolia fan-things (can't remember the name); one nano and a #1.

Using a EHEIM 2 Pro.

The lights are 3.5 to 4 inches above the surface of the water and are the following: T5 HO 39 watt X 4 (2 x 10k/1 x 6.7k/1 x 6k).  My bio-load is quite high...bigger tank meant I couldn't help myself and I bought more discus to go with my new plants!

My photo period is roughly 12 hours.  The 6.7k and 6k come one at 11am.  The other 2 10ks come on about 1 hour later.  The 10ks shut off around 9pm and the 6.7k and 6k shut off by 11:15pm.

I have attached a couple of pics, which aren't very good b/c I took them with my iphone. I should pull out my digital camera and take some decent pics.

Thoughts?

Slowly venturing down the Amano path...

#22
Things have been pretty crazy around here lately and I haven't had time to get some photos up. But I finally got a few free minutes so I figured I'd finally contribute to this thread so here we go.

The first photo is my tank as it looks now.

The second photo shows the nesaea pedicellata near the middle. It's growing pretty slowly...but it's growing.

The third photo shows the utricularia graminifolia in the front (which is growing quite well) and the lysmachia nummularia behind it and to the right. The lysmachia didn't do much at first but it's definitely starting to grow now.

The fourth photo shows the shinersia rivularis "weiss-grun". This one started a little rough but is not almost touching the surface of the tank. I'll have trimmings of it soon!

The final shot shows the bacopa australis just to the right of the apistos in the photo. It's also growing quite well and will be in need of a trim soon.

Hopefully I can make the May meeting and I'll be able to bring in some trimmings.
