Heya guys..

im curious.. im about to re-silicon a 125g tank i bought.. just 1 corner of it.. i noticed whein i cleaned the tank theres a spot with hardley and silcon left..

the tank is perfectly sealed from outside corner with silicon.. just wondering if its as easy as it seems.. just razor off existing silicon then clean with alchol, dry then apply new silicon?

and wait atleast 24hours.. im my case i can wait a weeks lol..

anyhow while im at it should i remove all the corner silicon and re-apply a fresh coat to each corner?? the bottom of the tank look like the silicon is brand new and the corners looked shot from cleaning with a razor blade.. (it was a SW tank)

just looking for some imput before i start, cause 125g on my floor equals divorce lol..

I am a little unclear-
are you saying that you want to replace the seal-silicone?  and the structural silicone is ok?  (the stuff that sticks the glass panes together between the glue).

If so, then yes take out all the seal-silicone and change it. I did,  with one of my ick-blue-quick cure'd tanks.  just dont touch the structural stuff :D
or splash.

ok im talking about the internal seal i guess.. the ones on the inside corner.. not the silcon/glue between panes.

I did a few so far for myself.     The biggest was a 20Gal long that I bought from a member......took the old silicon off with a razor blade......Purchased cement from HomeDepot that can be used on aquariums and then resealed it silicon.    Did a good job and looks new again.   I found that when you took the old stuff off and used the cement....it strengthened better then just resealing with silicon...........125 Gal tank.........Happy Gluing!

good tip! do you happen to know which brand of cement? I need to re do a 30 gal tank and I really don't want any mishaps, I'm with marx...any amount of water though on the floor = divorce haha
