I was just looking at it at Home Depot and it says “not safe for food surfaces”.  That usually means that it’s not good for aquariums.  Do you think they added that for a reason, or just so they don't have to worry about testing?  It may be like the peanut thing, everything now says that it may contain peanuts (just in case):-)

srenka:  Refer to Marx's post 3 above your last one.  That post is, essentially, the bottom line.  X=)

When I started building tanks with GE silicone about 35 years ago, they distributed a very nice two page pamphlet outlining how best to use their product to build aquariums.  I guess litigation wasn't as much of a consideration in those days.

Anyways, since then, I have used GE silicone to build many aquariums for myself and others with nary a problem. My most recent is a 4 foot by 12 inch by 16 inch reef tank supported on brackets on a basement wall.

I got the glass for free so didn't mind paying SP for the RTV108 grade. Actually I just got lazy.  Couldn't find the CT clear at the time.

Hi
I have used the Canadian Tire Brand  Silcone on more than 30 plus tanks and have found it to be 100 % safe.. I believe the tube is white now with blue lettering (it use to be green lettering. It states on the tube that its aquarium safe.By that they mean that its ok for the fish and that its safe to be under water at all times without it breaking up
Just remember to let it cure for 4 days before adding water.

Just to confirm, Is this the one?

Also notice the "not for food surfaces" warning.
