Dear OVAS,

Has anyone come across a dual-T8 fixture that is individually switchable? i.e. two power cords? Or a quad that can be lit two at a time?
...or just a favorite T8 fixture if you've tried a couple.
Also, can anyone suggest a T8 bulb that they like (i.e. not too yellow).
Cheers, Steve

When I used to run T8's I liked the powerglo bulbs, they gave off a little blue and made the tank really glow nice

Is there any particular reason to use T8's? I am using mainly T5HO these days. The sunblaster ones. You can configure/stagger them as you wish since they are individual light strips.

Thanks both.

Yes, Robert, you are probably right. Do you use the sunblaster reflectors or make your own? Get'em at B&B Hydroponics? Also, do you run the 6500K bulb that those fixtures come with or swap out right away?

I was looking into T8's thinking that I might be able to save a little with bulb + fixture costs, but the sunblaster is pretty low cost (especially if you stick with that bulb).

Yes, I got them from B&B including the reflectors. Comes with all hardware needed to connect two lights, in three different ways while they can still be operated individually. Must say i like them, have >10 of them now :), good value for the price you pay. The 6500k works well for me. I swapped some bulbs for Giesemann's on my planted tank for better colour. The only thing you have to be careful with is that you don't get them too wet/moist as the sockets are not the best quality. That said, in 2-3 years I haven't had one breaking yet, except for one or two bulbs, which is still great.
