I saw these the other day in the store and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with them. I'm thinking about pulling one of my Koralia Nanos that I use for water flow and replacing it with a U1 or U2 in my 90 gallon planted. I'm thinking that it would improve the mechanical filtration of my tank and still keep the water flow that I want for my CO2 distribution throughout the tank.

When I went high-tech (ie: CO2) I removed my AC filter that I had running and I miss it's mechanical filtration ability. My 2 canisters are great filters but I find that they don't  remove the particulates (ie fish waste) as well as my AC did.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

I am running a pair (one in each back corner) of U3s in my 40G planted tank.  These filters are awesome!  Cleaning is a snap compared to the previous generation.  Also I set the output to a vertical spray bar pattern and it circulates the tank quite well...

For a 90 gallon tank, I think you'll need to go beyond a U2...

I just want it to give me a little more mechanical filtration instead of a power head just moving water. I already run 2 eheim canisters on the tank. I want o keep it small so that I can hide it. I'm not relying on it for filtration.

In this case, you'll be fine....  The the U filters will give you good water movement as well...
