Ok, I've decided to include a central sump as the main filtration mechanism for 2 75gal tanks that will be part of my fishwall project.  I have enough space under the tank installation to accomodate a sump which ideally will be 48" long x 11" deep by 11" high (best case).

I've been spending a lot of time researching glass and Acrylic cutting and assembly techniques; I think at this point I'd like to ask if anyone has actual Hands On, Real World experience building either a glass or Acrylic sump, and if so, would you be willing to spend a few hours helping me do the build of it.

I'm leaning towards Acrylic at the moment; anyone know how much I would expect to pay for 3 48"x11" sheets of 1/4" Acrylic these days?

excuse me for hecking the drink APW, and this is not Hands On, Real World advice,  but why not just find an aquarium that measures about 48x11x11, or about that, I recall seeing one of those at our Esteemed Past President's house.

i can help you if its just acrylic, that size acrylic will cost you around 100-130. 1/4" should be fine!

In my experience, they cost around $70 for that, and IMO, it is not worth the money and effort unless it is to be exposed and esthetics is important.

I would do with a transprent plastic container from Walmart, my 30G sump for my 180G is the one got from Walmart for under $10, it has been working flawlessly for 3+ years.

Why not buy something like this.

They come in 50, 70, 100, 150 and 300 gallon sizes

Well, I need the container to fit in a tight spot.  It needs to be 11" tall ideally, 12" maximum.  Any taller and there won't be enough room for me to get in to clean it.  The rubbermaid containers look like they would work, except for that.

I assume the black thing with the pipe connected to it is a wet/dry?  Do you compartmentalize the rest of the sump in any way?
