I think my little porcelain crab has met his demise.
He just molted earlier this week. Any ideas?

Mine would disappear for many days until it adopted my large LTA a few weeks ago.  The clowns have the top and the crab has the underside.

...and crabs/shrimp will make themselves scarce after moulting until their new exoskeleton hardens.

And my porcelain crab has been eaten by sunrise dottyback... This dottyback has been eaten by my green BTA 2 month later -> circle of life :(

I found pieces of him when cleaning the tank(I'm going through the nasty red slime algae stage).  It didn't appear to be the molt either because it's usually covered with algae.
He never leaves his station on the brain.
The other inhabitants are cleaner shrimp, blue legs and red legs, bristleworms - no fish.

You don't have any predators Julie, and assuming there are no water issues to consider, the only conclusion would be that died of natural causes - old age?  The bristle worms work very quickly to dispose of remains, leaving the exoskeleton, which you would logically conclude is the remains of the moulting process.

I lost my emerald crab two months ago durring a cyano atack. One day he was just sitting on the substrate dead as can be. I wonder if they are poisoned by eating it or something?  :-[

Interesting theory - anyone else have thoughts?
